Faith, Life

Love God with All of your Heart, Soul, and Mind

There is something that I’ve been learning since WAFBEC 2013 from what Bishop Oyedepo preached (yes Fisayo, this again 😁) and I thought to share with the hope it would help someone.

Once upon a time, when I was in my final year, a computer science friend told me she had failed a maths course twice already so I offered to teach her since it was my discipline and I excelled in it. When we started the lessons, I gave her a problem which involved differentiation to solve and she solved it but got the wrong answer. Then I give her a very simple problem which revealed the root of the problem. I asked her to differentiate sin(x), cos(x) and tan(x) and she missed it. The problem was in the fundamentals of differentiation, hence even though she understood the higher principles, she still failed in getting the correct answer.

In a similar way, our faith in God can have a faulty foundation and without fixing the foundation, no matter what we do, it will avail to nothing. God is not a man that He should lie, hence if it’s not working, the problem is with us.

“If faith isn’t working in our hands, yourself questions, why is it not working?” – Bishop David Oyedepo.

I found that there was something fundamentally wrong with my faith. God said I should love Him with all of my heart, mind and strength. He said the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. He said I should walk in all His ways and serve no other God but Him because He is a jealous God. He said I should trust in Him with all my heart. He said He is a rewarder of them that DILIGENTLY seek HIM.

Without having laid the proper foundation of faith I attempted to “reap the harvest of faith” which really was covetousness disguised as faith. Then I stumbled and got offended and angry at God and I turned my back on Him. All this I did thinking I was righteous.
